The Pre-Consultation Questionnaire

The more quality information gathered before and during the consultation the more targeted the support becomes.   Gathering client data efficiently has become a strong economic model for Henley Nutrition clients ensuring that their consultation time is efficient, effective, and good value for money.   For this reason, we ask that a health questionnaire be completed before the consultation. This information then guides the time spent with patients ensuring appropriate questions are covered in more detail.  During the consultation, questions are asked about patient history, their environment, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease.  This provides for a very individual approach and treatment plan for each patient.

The Consultation

  • The initial consultation lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and involves aim setting, case history, a discussion around the presenting symptoms with an explanation of likely triggers and causes.  A corrective plan is created with supplement and or herbal recommendations with specific lifestyle suggestions.  The consultation is followed up with a report.

  • Follow-up consultations last 1 hour and usually take place eight weeks after the initial consultation.

The aim of the practice is to resolve symptoms as quickly as possible. A marked improvement is usually reported at the follow-up review.   Where a case is complex or requires several laboratory tests,  the package of additional follow-up reviews may prove more cost-effective. Advice will be provided during the first consultation, or phone call about packages if these will be beneficial.

Consultation Packages

The health review package is designed for anyone wanting to reassess their diet and implement a programme of gradual changes to improve weight, hormone balance, and blood sugar metabolism.   This package works well for more general symptoms of tiredness, afternoon fatigue, lapses of concentration, sleep that is not refreshing, and sweet or carbohydrate cravings.  This package can also work well with elevated cholesterol results, increased aches and pains, or menopause symptoms, as it takes a dietary review of meals and lifestyle habits into account.  This programme aims to change dietary habits and provides a full and clear explanation of exactly what types of foods to eat and which foods to avoid.  All advice is backed by scientific evidence and the latest research into the field of gut health.  It is helpful to bring any recent GP-run blood tests for assessment with this package.

Full Well Woman/Man Screen provides complete peace of mind for all aspects of health through a comprehensive blood test assessing over 85 individual markers.  This screen uses the sophisticated assessment pannel from FunctionalDX who provide visually understandable reports highlighting priorities by the use of algorithms.   This screen can highlight subclinical trends and allows for a preventative approach to the maintenance of health and vitality.  It can also indicate where multiple systems are affected by single nutrient deficiencies making diet and supplement advice accurate.   The test requires a privately arranged blood draw, further information can be supplied on getting this carried out locally.

The gut health package includes a full comprehensive stool assessment test using Genova Laboritory's GI Effects test.  This package provides a cost-effective way to understand the aspects of gut form and condition that are contributing to the following symptoms: IBS type symptoms: long-term gas and bloating, slow or fast stool transit, reflux, unexplained abdominal pain, food intolerances, or sensitivities.  Also, long-term skin conditions, autoimmune conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, or undiagnosed aches and pains.   The stool test provides a sensitive and accurate assessment of gut bacteria which when grouped can indicate the condition of the gut lining and level of localized inflammation. The test report provides an assessment of the quality of digestive enzymes and will highlight pathogenic bacteria, yeasts, and the overgrowth of commensal (good) bacteria.   This test provides links to potential symptom triggers and forms the basis of the six-month programme which is set out in the first consultation. Two full review sessions provide progress assessment and refinements.  Full dietary guidance is provided throughout the six-month programme.

If you have any questions about your condition or the services provided by Henley Nutrition it is recommended that you arrange a telephone assessment.  This free service will allow you to determine if nutritional therapy is for you.
